History:  

The Doria Pamphilij Gallery is one of the largest private art collection belonging to the Roman family Doria Pamphilij.  The family has grown their art collection since the 16th century and has them on display at the their palace in Rome and Genoa.  While the Rome location is only the palace (although it does include an inner court), the Genoa destination includes the Palace and the Gardens. 

The gallery in Rome is considered one of the hidden treasures of the city.  It is only steps away from Trevi fountain (6 minute walk), it is not on every tourists list of places to visit.  However, if you do manage to walk over to the palace, you will be greeted by impressive works of art and an even more impressive architecture.  

The art collection includes Annunciation by Filippo Lippi, Lamentation by Hans Memling, Caravaggio’s Rest on the Flight into Egypt and many more.  Tickets should be purchased in advance as reservations are required.
