Located 1.5 hours north of Bucharest, Busteni is a small mountain town in Romania.

Wednesday TV Show

If you have a Netflix subscription, you may have been busy watching the Wednesday TV series that debut recently.  And you maybe wondering where did they film this series.  The show was filmed in Busteni, Romania.  

This picturesque town, should be on your list of places to visit for its charming architecture and beautiful surroundings.  The city is one of Romania’s famous mountain resorts and a great place to go skiing.  

But what else is there to do?  Come and explore the city with us. 

Cantacuzino Castle

The construction of the castle was completed in 1911; and was the summer residence of Prince Grigore Cantacuzino.  In 1948, after nationalization, the castle was taken over by the government and was initially used by Ministry of Internal Affairs.  The castle went through major restoration and opened to the public in 2010.  

This castle was also the main filming location and was used as the boarding school. 

Mănăstirea Caraiman

This landmark Orthodox Monastery provides visitors with beautiful gardens, pathways, and scenic mountain views.  

Crucea Caraiman

Built between 1926 and 1928, the commemorative cross is dedicated to the heroes of the first World War.  The Cross is located at the Caravan Peak and there is a cable car that will get you up there.  However if you don’t want to pay, you can hike up to the height.  

Cascada Urlatoarele (Howling Waterfall)

If you enjoy hiking and exploring nature, then visiting the Cascada Urlatoarele or the Howling Waterfall is a must.  You will need to hike through the forest to get to the waterfall.  And we hear that bears do hang around this forest.
